Facts
Mount Harmon Plantation consists of:
~A manor house c. 1730, colonial kitchen, formal boxwood garden, rare tobacco prize house, nature preserve, and a scenic waterfront location.
~200 acres of pristine open space, with nature trails, abundant wildlife and rare flora.
~Brick Georgian Manor House circa 1730, furnished with American, English, Irish, and Scottish antiques, and restored to reflect its colonial period.
~Colonial Kitchen furnished with 18th c. kitchenware and artifacts.
~Prize House, where tobacco was “prized” into barrels before shipping overseas.
~Formal brick serpentine walled boxwood garden.
On-going Activities
~Mount Harmon Plantation is open to the public for tours Thursday – Sunday, 10:00am – 3:00pm, May – October, and by appointment year around for school and special groups. Group tours at special rates by reservation.
~Mount Harmon is also available for weddings, corporate retreats and private events, and is a spectacular setting for any special occasion.
~Mount Harmon is listed on the National Historic Register, is an official Chesapeake Bay Gateway Network site, and is located along the National Scenic Byway.
~Mount Harmon has active membership, educational, fund raising, special events, and visitor programming. Mount Harmon teaches visitors of every age about the lifestyle, culture, agriculture and trade of a colonial era plantation.
~Mount Harmon’s Education Program provides a window into our colonial heritage, with tours of the manor house, colonial demonstrations and games, and nature walk.
~Mount Harmon is administered by the Friends of Mount Harmon, Inc. a non profit organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Mount Harmon, for the public’s education and enjoyment.
